Chinook!
A granddaddy chinook isn’t your normal gust of warm winter wind. No, according to one Andrew Delaney McFadden, granddaddy chinooks are hot as breath from a blast furnace, as dangerous as an earthquake or a twister. They can turn snowstorms into floods, dry up lakes and streams, and make tomatoes grow in February.
Thad and Annie just moved out West and are planning on a day of fun at a frozen lake. But after hearing Mr. McFadden’s tall winter’s tale, these two new kids in town aren’t sure if they’ll ever use their ice skates again.
